Our History

Herobots (hazardous environment robots, or at the same time, Hero-bots: robots as heroes) is born to enable remote inspection and maintenance operations in constrained hazardous environments, using long-reach manipulators and digital twin technology. The company is born from a research group at the Department of Industrial Engineering active in the product design and development of robotics and virtual reality systems. Founded in 2021, Herobots established its operational headquarters at MARTE, the virtual reality laboratory within the Center for Advanced Metrological and Technological Services (CeSMA) at University of Naples Federico II. A second operational hub has been opened at Fabbrica Italiana dell’Innovazione in October 2024. After its establishment, Herobots has rapidly become a leader player in challenging robotic applications, with active contracts with government agencies and corporates.

Herobots is founded as an Italian company, registered as “Innovative Startup”, operating in robotics.

Septemper 1

Herobots opens its operative headquarter at MARTE-CESMA, University of Naples Federico II.

October 8

Awarded the project “SIMSOFT” from Campania Region – Startup 2020.

December 1

Herobots opens its workshop and laboratory for robotics design and development

April 26

Herobots management systems get the certifications ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 27001.

Herobots becomes an Official Spin-off Company of University of Naples Federico II (UNINA).

Herobots obtain company insurance from Generali S.p.A. covering costs up to a max of 6M€.

Contract “Enhanced control of flexible long-reach manipulators” from UKAEA – LongOps program.

Application for a EU trademark with Herobots, receiving the number 018821574 from EUIPO.

Awarded a contract from ENEA, Italian National Agency for Technologies, Energy and Development.

Awarded a contract from Leonardo, the leading Italian Company in Aerospace, Defence & Security

Herobots participated at SMAU event in the area of innovation of robotic solutions.

Herobots is selected by Houses of Emerging Technologies for developing GBOT technology.

March 21

Herobots has received funding from INVITALIA under the call Brevetti+ for its patent 102022000022116.

Herobots is awarded the project HeroSuite from Campania Region for Software development.

November 13

Herobots is awarded the project RESHAPE from MUR for a novel soft robotic gripper.

January 1

Herobots proposal PIPEON – Robotics and AI for Sewer Pipe Inspection and Maintenance has been funded from EU Commission and the project is started 01/01/2025.
